Jesus, God's Only Son: Part 8, We Believe (A Walk Through the Apostles Creed)

Wait! Didn't we just say that God is our Father, that we're His sons and daughters? Then why are we now saying that Jesus is His only Son? What difference does it make in your life to know that Jesus is God's only begotten Son? What does it mean that He carried His Godly essence into His life here on earth? What did He give up for us?Read Philippians 2:6-11, then John 3:16. You probably know this verse well. Maybe you memorized it as a child. That's wonderful, but sometimes, as they say "familiarity breeds contempt." We just say those words quickly, letting them roll off our tongues without really thinking about what they mean. Stop and read it slowly, deeply, considering that you are who God gave His only begotten Son for. Put your name in there: For God so loved (your name) that He gave His only begotten Son, that if (your name) believes ..." Wow, right?Spend a little time worshiping God -- Father, Son, Holy Spirit -- especially thinking about Jesus being fully God. I would also recommend memorizing it. I really easy way to do that is to read it out loud each day. Eventually, you'll know it!I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth;and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord,Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.He descended to the dead; on the third day He rose again from the dead;He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.
