Why Do Catholics Pray to Mary and the Saints??? Yikes! (Isn't that heresy?)

I think this might be the most misunderstood aspect of Catholicism by Protestants. (And it's not even the biggest difference.) Why, why, why do we PRAY to Mary and the Saints? Isn't God the only one we should pray to? And isn't Jesus our only intercessor?
