What would you think if I said “there are no illnesses.” Yes, I am ruffling feathers right now to get your attention but read on if you are curious about this.
Pain does not automatically mean an illness. Pain can be the indication that something needs attention inside of you.
Pain is our body’s signal or red flag to direct us to take a deeper look. The pain isn’t necessarily shouting a “disease” as much as guiding us to where some neglect in self care might be happening. We have been bombarded with the immediate idea that “there is something wrong with us” as opposed to let’s take a deeper look into what my body is trying to get my attention to look at. We immediately go to “I have a disease and it could be life threatening.” Check in right now and see how these words sit inside of you. Go ahead, settle in to what is happening inside of you right now.
Are you discounting what you are reading?
Are you judging me for what I am writing?
Are you agreeing?
Are you scared?
Are you curious?
Are you worried?
Are you sweating?
Allow for whatever you are feeling right now in this moment and become curious about these sensations?
We have learned to disconnect from ourselves. We’ve actually been taught to label theses sensations and then identify them as a named disease and something to be fearful of. We, in this culture of pharmaceutical’s and doctors as gods, are inundated with the idea of disease and illness that terrifies us into submission. We are directed to give ourselves up to an authority that knows more about us than we do. And you know what, for most people this is the truth!
Symptoms are our body’s way to get our attention. However in this culture symptoms are immediately looked upon as something to be worried about. If you are told you are sick or this symptom equals this disease, then I am imagining you believe you are not well. We have been indoctrinated into a culture of illness and very debilitated beings.
Are you aware that well being is our birth right. And sickness, pain, aches are not a death sentence as you have been led to believe.
Our bodies are amazing in their abilities to bring ourselves back into balance. However, this may take time and some patience and a desire to being curious about what is creating the pain and disconnect.
The path to wellness lies in the midst of self reflection.
