And I emphasize WESTERN culture here because respect for the sensitives and the “seers” hasn’t been obliterated all over the world, but certainly the WEST seems to alienate the “sensitive” to the lunatic fringe. There also really has not been any space created for what society now calls “sensitives” in a materialistic greed-dominated society and that society is poorer for it. But there’s a bigger picture here, so let’s look back for a moment:
There was a time, not so long ago, when children who displayed heightened sensitivity, were taken under the wing of the local Medicine Man or Woman, were taught the use of herbs or the practice of healing. More than any transfer of written knowledge, they shared time and PRESENCE with the local healer or seer or Elders. And so they learned, not only the obvious – herbs, concoctions, rituals, but also how to BE sensitive and how to manage and wield their sensitivity for the good of all. There were also so few of these individuals that “excess” trainees were often farmed off to neighbouring communities and so they were honoured, respected and treasured – even if they weren’t invited round for dinner (and honestly they probably wouldn’t want to be as sensitives are by their nature introverts for the most part).
Speed forward to our present age where hundreds of “sensitives” are born everyday, in every part of the world. There simply aren’t enough experienced, wise or competent Elders or Healers to assign all the sensitive children or young people to and so at best, they or someone in their environment reads a book. Even a very good book can never impart the skills needed to survive a 5-sensed western world as a sensitive – never mind as a Clair (voyant, sentient, audient etc). So without training or real world guidance, these sensitives fall off the cliffs of life in droves, rather like the fable of lemmings. The sad truth is only 1 in 20 of modern-day western society “sensitives” make it through their twenties as most choose to cut their painful experience short or succumb to ill-ness. The societies that reject them also seek to medicate and alienate them in homes or institutions so really, what future do they have to look forward to unless they master the pretence of “normal” really early on.
What the world calls “sensitives” but I prefer to call 6-sensed, have always been of inestimable value to society. They are the Healers, the Counsellors, the Guides to the lost or ill. From the view of any culture, the 6-sensed have been the glue that held a community together and nurtured its advance. But the shift in numbers from one a generation in any area to multitudes, must result in a dilution of the standing of the 6-sensed as they scramble – unguided, to make sense of the additional influx of information. And so society looks at the “sensitives” today as unhinged, lunatic and unbalanced and for the most part I have to admit – we are. There are very specific skills and knowledge that we need to continue to function in society and most of these cannot be learnt in books or on Youtube videos. But what other choice is there when so few of us survive to any age of wisdom and fewer still share their experience with even one other. This age has all been about commerce and we get sold the absolute that unless we can monetise our skills, they are useless to the world.
And so the nonsense grows. Imagine a radio that tunes to a station that only you can hear, but the message is coded and needs to be “translated”. To be translated it must use one of the pathways in your brain that are already active – taste, hearing, vision, feeling or smell. Because society says that if you see or hear things that other people don’t you’re a loon, so you’ve blocked off these pathways and so feeling, taste or smell are the only allowable avenues left. So in comes this information and your mind tries to translate it through feeling, taste and smell – the last two being the least accurate paths. So you feel elated and can taste a sweet taste – that reminds you of that time you were at the Carnival and you saw that green painted main (just for a second but the memory is in there somewhere), and the smell of honeysuckle is strong.
So you decide that this all means that Green Aliens are good and are on their way and you should grow honeysuckle so they know you’re welcoming them.
Really, your great-grandmother Mable is just saying hello and she loves you very much and she always baked sweet cakes and loved honeysuckle.
Do you see how easy this all is to get wrong?
So the legions of past-life obsessed Alien worshiping sensitives are growing, with no real guidance or grounding and untethered from a society that might at least provide them with purpose and so we cant really blame the Western world for writing off the 6-sensed while they have nothing of value to offer the Normal world. But the numbers are growing, not only in born sensitives but in newly awakened sensitives that through practices like meditation and prayer (in a fanatic-free environment) are swelling the ranks of the Awakened. But the dangers are also very real of the unskilled practitioners or seers that have read a book or taken a course and so the value of the 6-sensed in society dilutes. And so the inner lives of communities remain unguided and rudderless, vulnerable to the hostile take-over of Western Medicine and drug-based Psychotherapy and the world sickens.
So what is the solution? Schools for sensitives? Support-groups? (for introverts? Now that’s a hard-sell right there).
Ultimately it goes back to the adage – you should know them by their fruits. The swelling ranks of the 6-sensed are still finding their feet – many still maintaining a pretence of “normal” while silently suffering their additional information downloads. Sociologists of the future will study this phenomenon with fascination as humankind evolved from 5 to 6 senses and how we handled it will provide fodder for volumes. In the meantime I think we need to wait for that moment when truth dawns and mankind shifts their understanding of “sensitives” from social cast-aways to the next step in the evolution of mankind and resets our understanding of what human beings are and what our real capacity is.
Until then, the best things sensitives can do is work on themselves. Try to clean up their inner translators and nurture their relationship to and with their higher selves. Healers need to heal, Seers need to find the wisdom to dry their tears and Sentients need to start reaching for better rather than be drowned by what IS. And as long as we don’t communicate with one another, as long as we hide away, the foundations of this new world we have emerged to help create will not get laid. We are all fledgelings, with almost as little understanding of our gifts as normals have. We need to remain humble in that embrace of newness but confident in our human right to BE and explore what benefit we can offer to humankind. Most of all, we need safety, to hold onto our vulnerability and raise the standard of kindness as we can tolerate nothing less. If that is the first gift we can bring to mankind, it will be worth all the lives that did not make it to here.
The recent events that intended to cull humanity might well have evened our numbers and so we do need to get a move-on if we intend to make space for ourselves into the future but unless we took time, trained with an Elder and spent decades living our 6-sensed truth, we should remain humble and discerning. A 6th sense does not endow wisdom, only access to additional information that – if translated correctly – could give us access to infinite wells of knowledge. Taking care of the ifs is our next mission. We stand uniquely poised to offer examples of how to forge ahead - all 6 senses on and active - for future generations and that we can surely figure out by just being our best and most authentic selves.
Stay grounded beloved ones, stand IN your truth and know that we’re all living our a small part of a larger plan. All we need to do is show up, in truth and be our best selves – the rest is already resolved.
