Source Article - ILLEGAL MIGRATION under Biden nears aggregate total of LEGAL MIGRATION processed at Ellis Island in New York for 62 years (newstarget.com)
Illegal migration under President Joe Biden is approaching the total of all legal migration processed at Ellis Island in New York from 1892 to 1954.
According to the National Pulse, Ellis Island accepted more than 12 million immigrants legally seeking American citizenship during its 62 years of operation. In contrast, Biden's open borders policy has already seen an influx of at least 9.4 million illegal immigrants who recently arrived – with almost 10 months remaining until the next inauguration.
The 9.4 million illegals "only account for recorded encounters will illegal aliens. Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants – if not more – bypass immigration authorities entirely each year, becoming 'gotaways,'" noted the Pulse.
Figures from the Department of Homeland Security revealed more than 600,000 encounters with "gotaways" recorded at the southern border in fiscal year 2023. Moreover, the 9.4 million illegals who recently arrived also add to the roughly 10.2 million that are already living in the U.S. as of 2020.
Ellis Island's history as a federal processing facility for migrants began in 1892 during the tenure of the late former President Benjamin Harrison. The island served this purpose for 62 years, until its 1954 closure under the term of the late former President Dwight Eisenhower. (Related: REPLACEMENTS: New York Gov. Illegal immigration keeps Democrats in power
Decades later, former President Donald Trump tried to address the issue of illegal immigration. But Biden, a Democrat, reversed his predecessor's policies in 2020 – and even encouraged illegals to go to the United States.
According to some commentators, Democrats politically benefit from ignoring this foreign invasion as congressional and Electoral College apportionment depends on the number of persons residing in a particular area – irrespective of them being citizens or illegals. Individuals unlawfully present in the country end up becoming political pawns to inflate politically important population counts, even when they technically can't vote.
States that accept more illegals can gain a congressional seat or Electoral College vote, to the detriment of those that emphasize border security. This motivates blue states to promote "sanctuary cities" that vow to defy federal immigration laws.
U.S. Rep. Yvette Clark (D-NY) inadvertently made this admission during a 2021 hearing. She bragged that the congressional district she represents in the U.S. House of Representatives "can absorb a significant number of these migrants" because she needed "more people in [her] district, just for redistricting purposes."
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott reposted a clip of Clark's comments during the said hearing, noting how she and other Democrats support illegal immigration. "These Democrats are looking out for themselves, not for America," he captioned the video.
But perhaps more concerning about the lack of urgency from Democrats to secure the border is the lack of election safeguards against fraudulent votes. Under current law, a voter need not provide any documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote in a federal election. They must simply check a form declaring they are a citizen, essentially trusting people who have already broken U.S. law to abide by a voting honor system.
