We both like good and healthy cooking and fresh herbs are essential for this. In our Umadum sailboat garden we have two types of plants: one is for our farmacy and one is for cooking.
What are these plants?
How we grow them?
How we make a natural fertilizer?
What we do with our plants when we’re sailing?
Well, put on you rubber boots and follow us to our Umadum garden.

⁣The second weekend of boat work and repairs!
With a lot of nudging, we were allowed to remove caulk, prep work, and clean areas of the boat. They began caulking and removed half of the salon floor/sole, as it was incredibly rotten.

SV Sequence
7 Views · 2 years ago

⁣We managed to talk the repair crew into letting us start a few small repairs on our boat. Finally, we can put some effort into this thing! Replacing the caulking throughout the interior may be easy, but removing the old caulking is going to be quite the task.

*P. S. We were only allowed to scrape, prep, and tape. The staff applied the caulk instead.

We were given a tender for the day and were able to explore Rodney Bay from the water and spend a day off on a new beach!

⁣This week, we explore Castries and acquire better beach chairs and an umbrella, while Brittany tests the boundaries of safety when approaching St. Lucia’s traffic. Enjoying a day at the beach, and a cruise ship with 5 masts, we're excited for the boat work to begin. There's a little good news… we’ll get to help with some of the repairs soon.

It was a usual bright day in the Guanacaste Conservation Area located in Costa Rica. The year was 1997. The animals and plants were thriving here and had never looked better. That was when out of nowhere many trucks appeared approaching the forest from far away. These trucks made their way along the track and surprisingly dumped the cargo they were carrying in the middle of the Conservation. They left as quickly as they had arrived. Confusing right! The cargo they dropped was even more puzzling. It wasn't some sort of waste or dumpster content, instead these trucks had unloaded orange peels. Over the coming year, more than a thousand trucks drove in to this beautiful natural reserve and dumped a whopping 12,000 metric tons of orange peel in this place. Was someone trying to vandalize the Conservation? Were they trying to destroy the natural habitat in some way or was it a plan to destroy the natural elements using a natural deterrent in order to urbanize the area?Well, we've done some homework to find out the strange story behind this clash between man and nature and in doing so have come across many similar ones too.

'Living Black in Costa Rica Black Expats Living Life Abroad' Devon has been living in Costa Rica for 6 years now. Four in Grecia and now in Escazu. An interesting fact, Devon actually reached out to Travel Costa Rica NOW back in 2015 and we actually had a SKYPE call. I could help her to an extent but being that I am not black, I couldn't actually answer some of her questions, just give my observations. Anyway, she has been very busy these days with her FaceBook groups (helping black folks relocate to Costa Rica). and the fact she has 3 shows on a fairly new Internet Radio Station called Blaxit Radio. This video, 'Living Black in Costa Rica Black Expats Living Life Abroad' is on how she came to live in Costa Rica, her thoughts on how Costa Rica treats black people and her radio station, Blaxit and much much more. If you would like to show some LOVE and donate to the Blaxit cause- https://www.patreon.com/blaxitradio

⁣After reviewing the boat, and its damages, we met with the repair staff who showed us other boats they're repairing and confirmed they could fix all the damages. We wrote up a contract with the seller, and added a 91 item addendum of repairs to the contract.

We decided to BUY IT!

With the contract settled, we return to Florida to get ready to come back and pick up the boat.

⁣Traveling to Idaho for some family time and a three week kitchen renovation, complete with upcycled cabinets for that modern look!

Once that's done, we travel back to Florida for a long road trip and share some boat buying news!

We moved to Florida in 2014, with the intention of buying, renovating, and selling a home. The plan would allow us time for life to happen while we prepared to live on a sailboat. After reaching all our goals, we had life and COVID alter the plans and are on plan A, B, C, …. N or so, of living on a sail boat.

If you're interested in moving to the Monterey area or want to learn more about the area check out the channel - Living in Monterey, California below:
https://www.youtube.com/channe....l/UCVR6eOWfJs-kjWRl2

What are the best things to do in Monterey, California? Good question. Monterey is a small city in California that was once the capital of Spanish California from 1770 to 1882. It now has many historical sites and modern attractions. At one time, Monterey was an important city in the fish canning industry, but that all collapsed with the disappearance of the sardine. Monterey and the surrounding area have attracted artists since the late 19th-century, and many celebrated painters and writers have lived in the area.

During this time, Monterey hosted California's first theater, public building, public library, publicly-funded school, printing-press, and newspaper. It was originally the only port of entry for all taxable goods in California. Cannery Row, originally the fish packing area, is now a beautiful restored neighborhood, with shops and restaurants. Also along the waterfront are Fisherman's Wharf and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Nearby, Point Lobos State Natural Reserve in Carmel and 17-Mile Drive offer some lovely coastal scenery.

The California sea otter, a threatened subspecies, inhabits the local Monterey Bay marine environment, and a field station of The Marine Mammal Center is located in Monterey to support sea rescue operations in this section of the California coast. The rare San Joaquin kit fox is found in Monterey's oak-forest and chaparral habitats. Sea otters, seals, sea lions, and during the winter months, whales, are all common and welcomed sights. Now, Monterey is a hotspot for tourists and locals alike who enjoy the beautiful ocean views, good food, art and history.

But for those that don’t know the area, what are the best things to do in Monterey? Well, join us as we go through the eleven best things to do in Monterey, California. Whether you’re a local, a returning visitor, or are planning to go there for the first time, check out our list and see if there’s anything that tickles your fancy.

Today we are sharing 10 things to know before visiting Dubai - including when to visit Dubai, how to plan a trip to Dubai, Dubai vacation travel tips, how to visit Dubai on abudget and what to do in Dubai in 3 days. Dubai is a wonderful place to explore in the UAE, full of luxury hotels, glorious shopping malls and endless desert. 1. Visit from October to AprilDubai has two seasons, hot and hotter. Visiting in the cooler months from October to April will offer you clear blue skies, pleasant heat and less humidity. 2. Plan and book in advanceDubai is a popular destination so booking everything ahead of time is best. Plus, Emirates have some great cheap seats when you book 6 months ahead of travel and hotels offer great deals when booking in advance. 3. StopoverDubai is the perfect place to use as a stopover. There are lots of things to see and do for all types of travellers, we will get on to that later, but Dubai is a great place to stopover when travelling from Europe or America to Asia. Book flights on the Emirates website to save money on the extra flight and hotel room. 4. Dress modestlyWhen packing for your trip, make sure you pack layers and reconsider those short skirts or crop tops. Aim to cover up to your knees and shoulders when possible out of respect for the local culture. 5. TippingAnother thing to consider before your trip to Dubai is tipping. Tipping isn’t expected but some restaurants will add it to the bill. 6. Use the taxisTaxis in Dubai are great, affordable and easy to come by. We recommend using them whenever you can - you can even book taxis on the RTA Smart Taxi app. However, avoid just handing over the address of your destination, try to find out landmarks nearby as the drivers don’t always know every street in the city. 7. Being respectfulSomething important to remember whilst visiting Dubai is to be respectful to the local culture. We have talked about dressing appropriately but also remember to avoid showing public displays of affection when around Dubai. 8. Food and drinkWhen planing your evenings, it is worth doing a bit of research before your visit. There are many fine dining options around the city as well as budget friendly ethnic eats too. Western styled bars are available with decent pints and there are many hotels and restaurants offering buffet styled meals too. However, alcohol is not readily available in supermarkets but can be purchased at licensed bars and restaurants which are often attached to hotels. 9. WeekendsWeekends in Dubai are Fridays and Saturdays, so consider this when planning your trip to the city. If you can, aim to visit Sunday to Thursday. 10. Things to doLastly, there are plenty of things to do in Dubai to keep you entertained. For those that love adventure, hire a driver to go dune bashing for a morning in the desert. Head to the top of the Burj Khalifa to experience spectacular views from the tallest building in the world. Shop till you drop in Dubai Mall, visit the souks or take a yellow boat tour around the coastline to learn a little more about the city whilst seeing the famous hotels. Love theme parks? Head to one of the four major theme parks in Dubai, including the IMG Worlds of Adventure and Motiongate theme park. #Our_Lady_of_Zeitoun was a mass Marian apparition that occurred in the Zeitoun district of Cairo, #Egypt, over a period of 2-3 years beginning on April 2, 1968. It was reportedly witnessed by many thousands of people, including Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, and captured by newspaper photographers and Egyptian television. According to witnesses, the Virgin Mary appeared in different forms over the #Coptic_Orthodox Church of Saint Mary at Zeitoun for a period of 23 years. The apparitions lasted from a few minutes up to several hours and were sometimes accompanied by dove-shaped luminous bodies. The sick and blind are said to have been cured, and many people converted to Christianity as a result. The Coptic church approved of these apparitionsظهور #العذراء_مريم في كنيستها في الزيتون مصر ١٩٦٩

We climbed Costa Rica's highest mountain Cerro Chirripó and explored the jungle of Corcovado.
