(credits: Sky News Australia) Former US President Donald Trump says he is giving "very serious consideration" to pardoning Julian Assange if re-elected.

Assange, the Australian Wikileaks founder, is fighting extradition to the US for espionage charges, facing up to 175 years in prison.

Trump discussed the potential pardon during a podcast interview with Youtuber Tim Pool.

"Well,, I'm going to talk about that today, and we're going to give it very serious consideration," Trump said.

The interview was recorded on Saturday before Trump's speech at the 2024 US Libertarian Party National Convention.
