The adrenal glands are not technically an organ of detoxification, however it is prioritized on the AHEAD MAP because it is vital that this score is low in order for healing to occur. When we are constantly stressed and in fight or flight mode, our sympathetic nervous system is constantly active. Healing occurs when our parasympathetic nervous system is activated, which lowers stress as well as cortisol, and allows us to "rest and digest".
