An update: In reading about grief, I've learned that these "visions" are common among survivors of sudden, traumatic grief. They're called "instant replays," though I think I would call them "incessant replays."

Each of the suggestions mentioned here have helped a lot, but the thing that finally ENDED the replays was seeing the two videos of my husband's accident. They were HORRIFYING to watch, but they filled in the blanks that my mind was apparently trying to figure out.

I was also recently contacted by one of the four men who were at the scene with him after the accident. He was able to fill in a lot of details and help me through much of this as well. Talking to people like this has also really helped to restore some of my faith in humanity. There were good people who were with my husband in his last moments and that means ever so much to me.
